Jesus is Lord. He died for our sins and was raised for our justification. Although He died for everyone and although God desires that no one should perish, Jesus still said that few would enter into the kingdom of heaven. Only those to whom His death and life have been applied will be saved.
His death is applied to us through repentance. Through true repentance a person dies to their own will, desires, and plans for their own life. Repentance is about us burying our old man, leaving that person behind, since ‘anyone who has died has been set free from sin.’
But repentance alone is not enough. It is not enough for us to lay down our lives for God, we must also live by faith. As the Bible states repeatedly, ‘the just shall live by faith.’ Through faith, the life of Jesus is applied to us, so that we are justified, being hidden IN CHRIST.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears,
then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:3-4
